This app was released on 30 December 2016 (Bhim Rao Ambedkar). Bhim app supported Android 5 and above, Windows, and  iOS 9.0 Operating System.

BHIM App are available in about 20 Indian regional languages such as  Hindi (National), Bhojpuri, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Assamese, Konkani, Urdu, Khasi, Mizo, Manipuri etc. Including English.

BHIM is an Indian mobile payment App developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

This app has been created to promote digital payments. The full-form of the BHIM App is Bharat Interface for Money. It works on UPI based payments. The special thing is that it works without internet even if there is no internet, this app can be operated by dialing USSD code * 99 # .

During the 2017 Union budget session of India, Finance Minister Late Arun Jaitley was said that BHIM is currently being used by over 12.5 million Indian citizens.

That time Jaitley said that the government will launch two new schemes to promote the use of the BHIM app. One will be referral payments for individuals, and the other will be cashback for merchants who accept payments from BHIM.

The application supports all Indian banks which use UPI, which is built over the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) infrastructure and allows the user to instantly transfer money between bank accounts of any two parties. It can be used on all mobile devices.

Benefits of BHIM App

BHIM App is simply a unique system that transfers money between different bank accounts. The best part of BHIM app is that transactions are almost instantaneous and can be done 24x7 including weekends and bank holidays. Friends, this app is operated under the supervision of the Government of India, so it is in public interest and it's easy to use and also safe, you can download it from Google Play Store.This App allows users to send or receive money to or from UPI payment addresses, or to non-UPI based accounts (by scanning a QR code with account number and IFSC code or MMID (Mobile Money Identifier) Code).

But other mobile apps / wallets (PayTM, MobiKwik, mPesa, Airtel Money, PhonePe etc.) that hold money. Then money will be transferred. Friends, most apps are not secure, every day you hear the news that all the money has disappeared from people's account / wallets. All these apps are funded / shared by some private agencies and foreign banks, foreign banks and agencies make huge amount of money from these apps which are not in the interest of our country. So please do not do a transaction with this app. This is why by offering cashback to your user, they make you to use their app. Friends, always remember one thing, and greed is a bad habit.

BHIM also allows users to check the current balance in their bank accounts and to choose which account to use for conducting transactions, although only one can be active at any time.Users can create their own QR code for a fixed amount of money, which is helpful in merchant-seller-buyer transactions. Users can also have more than one payment address. 

If the 12-digit Aadhaar number is listed as a payment ID, the BHIM app will not require any biometric authentication or prior registration with the bank or UPI. The company rolled out new feature called BHIM Aadhaar Pay allowing users to send or receive digital payments through Aadhaar authentication.

BHIM App transaction fees & limits

Friends, currently, there is no charge for transactions from ₹1 to ₹100,000. Some banks might, however, levy a nominal fee for UPI or IMPS transfers. The minimum transaction amount is ₹1, and the maximum number of transactions per day is 10. If the 10-transactions-per-day limit has been reached, the user needs to wait for 24 hours from the last transaction before making another transaction.


According to Wikipedia report, all cyber security-related issues have been resolved.

How to use BHIM App?

Let's follow the 6 steps for simplest and easiest way for transacting.

  1. Download BHIM App from google play store
  2. Choose your language
  3. Register your mobile number
  4. Add your bank account with the app
  5. Set your UPI PIN for security (Security PIN/Code, don't share to others)
  6. Ready to use or transact.

Friends, we request you all, use BHIM app to secure your digital transactions. This app is operated under the supervision of the Government of India agency NPCI. Other apps / wallets are funded by some private agencies and foreign banks, foreign banks and agencies make huge amount of money from these apps which are not in the interest of our country. So please do not do a digital transaction with these apps/wallets such as PayTM, MobiKwik, mPesa, Airtel Money, PhonePe etc.

Currently, the fund transfer limit has been set to a max. of ₹20,000 per transaction and a max. of ₹40,000 in a 24-hour period.

BHIM App provide the facility to users to use mobile numbers from their contact book to send money and also save payment addresses for future use without needing to type the address again. User can also check the transaction history, which only shows transactions through BHIM. 

Besides, the special thing is that it works without internet even if there is no internet, this app can be operated by dialing USSD code * 99 # .

Do you know the Indian banks have proposed transaction charges on UPI transactions, but there is no information or updates on whether transactions through BHIM will also be charged.
